Notes for Jane Lovey “Janie” SALTS
There is no record that Janie was buried with her husband. However, there are others buried with Delbert: Gladys Fay Stegall (26 Dec 1971) and Harry Stegall (18 May 1973). And, there are also Don C. Hendrick 25 April 1989), Evelyn Marie Hendrick (22 Dec 1971) and Billie Dale (infant) Stegall (02 Sep 1927). These are probably children as well.
57In the same cemetery there are more Stegall’s and Saults buried together. These could possibly be more of Janie’s children.
Janie was still living at home when her father died. She is mentioned several times throughout his Civil War Pension papers. In the same paper work, there is a General Affidavit mentioning a family bible. The bible was being used to determine the age of Janie L. Salts. It gives details that the “2” in Janie’s birth year of 1882 looked like it had been erased and a “1” may have been written over it. This may have been done to make Janie one year younger so she could have been claimed as a dependent when her mother was seaking benefits from her husband's pension.
