There is only one George Mitchell in the Confederate forces in the Civil War which should make it easy. But I can't find any information about him, other than a George Mitchell after the war somewhere that I can't find again! He applied for his pension in some other state, and showed on the census pretty clearly, but I've lost track of the records.
