Notes for Edward (Spouse 1)
Edward died before 1809. His father’s will was probated at that time and in this will his faher specified that 120 English pounds be put at interest for each of the six childrn of his deceaed son, Edward. The money, plus interest, was to be paid for grandchildren when they married or became 21, whichever came first.
626A copy is in existence which Edward Holmes wrote to his three small sons by his first wife, after her death. hese sons were Luke, John, and William. In the letter he told them about the good character of their mother, the dates of her birth, marriage, and death, and about their joining the Methodiest church in 1791. These sons were mostly reared by their mother’s people. Luke went with his uncles back to Williamson County, Tennessee in 1811 when they returned from a trip to Virginia. Some time later John Holmes also moved to Williamsburg County, Tennessee.
