Adam and his family moved to Washington County, Tennessee between 1800 and 1806. He bought 336 acres of land from John Blair on May 1, 1806 and it was recorded August 1, 1806. The land was on Miry Branch of Big Limestone Creek. He later bought land in the Little Limestone Creek area also.435
