Notes for James H. RUCKER
1860 - Deep Water, Henry County, Missouri, James can be found with his family on the 1860 census.
1860 - 1870 - James probably died sometime between the times of the 1860 and 1870. He has not been found in any document other than the 1860 census. Neither was he ever mentioned in any of the Rucker / Saults / Lynch / Covey family notes -to put it bluntly, he either died or was adopted out and his name was changed. He completely forgotten.
My family started searching their family history back in 1960 and there was no mention of James H. Rucker up to when I stumbled across this family in the 1860 census. The other strange thing is, he wasn't mentioned in any of the papers of his sister, Mother Superior Mary. Her papers were instrumental in locating her father's grave and understanding the movement of the children and their survival during and after the Civil War.
[However, there are some Rucker uncle and aunts up in Chariton Co., MO. -three of his father's brothers. Two of the brothers had sons named James H. Rucker, but one in particular was born in 1856. The 1865 James H. Rucker has been documented as a first cousin to this James who was born in 1854. They are "not" the same person. The two boys are actually listed in different counties with their families in the 1860 census at the same time.]
