David Solt [Sult], son of Daniel Solt, served five years in the Continental Army as a private soldier in the Pennsylvania Line. He served in the Canadian Campaign, the battles of : Brandywine on 11 September 1777, Germantown on 4 October 1777,  Monmouth on 28 June 1778, and the Storming of the Blockhouse at Bulls Ferry, Bergen, New Jersey in July of 1780. His unit the 5th Battalion of the Pennsylvania Line, Commanded by General Anthony Wayne, was overrun by the British at Paloi On 20 September 1777. This engagement was forever known as "The Massacre At Paloi".1192
