In the North Carolina Birth Index, 1800--2000 his son Thomas Spencer was born on 8 March 1887 in Mitchel County, North Carolina. The child’s mother was named as Bettie Barnett. So I’m a bit confused. Have to work a bit more ont his one. Looks like his first wife would have been Sarah E. Salts.
