*Note: According to a hand-written note I found in the Presley file at Greene County, TN on June 23, 1997, the Priestly family lived in the Houston Valley Area of Greene County, TN. District # 1 of the Tax Lists on which Enoch Presnal was listed, is located in the Southeast quarter of Greene County, TN. This area of Greene County borders with Washington County, TN.
*Note: Amos Richard Presley recorded a written list of siblings prior to his 1932 death: Ruth, Mahalee, Isaac, Gabriel, Stephan, Elijah, Jerry, Daniel, Sarah, and himself, Amos Richard Presley. He also listed his parents names as Enoch Presnal & Sarah Elizabeth Salts.
**My theory is that the Nathaniel & Enoch PRESTLEYs listed on the 1850 census of Greene Co TN are actually our Enoch's sons by a previous marriage prior to his 1832 marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Salts. No proof but just a theory! You'll notice they were both born in NC. They were the right age to fit in the early NC census of Enoch Presnal's household prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Salts. I've tried to track both Nathaniel & Enoch in the censuses but haven't had much luck. The Isaac Prestly mentioned in the 1850 census could possibly be the 3rd son of our Enoch by his previous wife. But, this one I have my doubts on mainly because Enoch & Elizabeth had a son named Isaac. Possible but not probable.
He was killed when a log fell on him while building a log cabin.
