From: Dixie Dellinger, Subject: Mitchell sons in the civil War..., date 2 Nov 2008

Harrison Mitchell, the oldest, we've learned a lot about but still can't find his widow or their two daughters after his death. But he, John Salts (Andrew's son), William Starnes, and Nicholas Salts were all in the same regiment, captured on the same day, and sent to the same prison. I'm beginning to get a picture of Jonesborough, Tennessee, emptied of its young men, many who went away and never came back . . . maybe their parents not even knowing when or where they died. That happened all over.
