Louise Salts - JOHNSON CITY
Mildred Louise Salts, age 82, 205 Michaels Ridge Blvd., Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

Born in Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie Lowe Brumit. She worked for Interstate Foundry, at Holston Defense and then retired from GMAC in 1963 as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and the Treasury of her Sunday School Class.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Majorie Douglas.

Louise leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Willard Ray Salts; son, David Salts and his wife, Jodi, Johnson City; half brothers, Carol Brumit and Buddy Brumit; and half sister, Joan Brumit.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2007, at Seven O?clock in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Ward will be officiating the service. Janice Johnson will be providing the music. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at Eleven O’clock in Evergreen Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Donald Shelton, Norman Miller, Stephen Miller, Chuck Bibe, Norman Wright, Jeff Campbell and John Glover.

All those planning to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery by Ten-fifty Saturday morning.

Obituary - WILLARD RAY SALTS - Willard Ray Salts, 90, of 205 Michaels Ridge Blvd., Johnson City, died, Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City.

He was a native of Unicoi County and son of the late William “Bill” and Lula Nelson Salts. Mr. Salts was an Engineer for CSX Railroad for 40 years, and was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Salts, 1st wife, Kathleen Salts and son Philip Salts, 2nd wife, June Salts, and sisters Lillian Tolley, Elizabeth Stapelton, Ruth Rothgerb, and Pauline Riddle.

Survivors include his son: David Salts and wife Jodi of Johnson City; and brother: J.B. Salts of Erwin.

The funeral service was at 8 p.m. Monday, May 2, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Dr. Allen Davis officiated. Vocal selections were under the direction of Janice Johnson. Musical selections were provided by Becky Manful.

The committal service will be held Tuesday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend, should meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 10:50 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers are: Roger Campbell, Donald Shelton, Tracy Teal, Preston Chapman, Billy Proffitt, Brent McCracken, Jeff Campbell, Rick McInturff, Norman Wright, and Allen Green. Honorary pallbearer will be John Glover.

Valley Funeral Home is in charge.
