Rebecca’s husband must have died in the Civil War. Their last child was born in 1857 ad he was not found on the 1870 census. From that point on, Rebecca was listed as a widow.
Rebecca Wells’ name has been found on two of her children’s death certificates - Mary Alice Wells Callahan and William A. Wells. I can now confirm that this is in fact Rebecca Wells Thompson who was the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Houk Wells.
