Jerry McGhee, 67, of Limestone, died Sunday at his home.
His family provided the following statement:
"He was a very proud Christian man who loved listening to gospel music and rejoicing in the Lord.
"He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his family and friends dearly. He had a very special Pomeranian, 'Sadie,' whom he cherished."
Survivors include his wife: Ida Imogene McGhee; two daughters and a son-in-law: Patricia Ann and Robert "Bo" Haynes of Limestone and Angela Kay McGhee and her fiancé, Greg Hillyer, of Mosheim; a very special granddaughter: Denise LaShea Laws; his stepfather: Roy Ricker; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Albert and Judy McGhee of the Pleasant Hill community, Tommy and Frances McGhee, and Sue McGhee; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a very special friend: Charles Anthony Haynes, who was "like a grandson to him."
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nana Sarah Bales; his father, Ben Kay McGhee; and a brother: Bobby McGhee.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Afton Chapel of Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel at Afton. The Rev. Danny Willis and the Rev. Roy McGhee will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mount Bethel Christian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brent Ricker, Keith Hillyer, Steven McKay, Ben Loptein, David Haynes, and Dustin Haynes.
