MONTPELIER — Vilate Saulls, 78, joined her parents and sister in heaven on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, in Montpelier, Idaho. She was born November 10, 1932, in Wapello, Idaho, to Ethel Harbaugh and Anglo Moore Saxton. She survived blood poisoning when she was 10 months and wasn't expected to live. She had to learn to walk and talk over again. The family moved to Ogden when she was 2 and moved back to Wapello when she was 4. She attended Wapello Elementary School and Blackfoot High School. She graduated from seminary in 1948. She received her GED in 1986.

She married Lynn Everett (Godfrey) Saulls on August 7, 1949. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 15, 1961.

She lived for her family and never forgot birthdays or wedding anniversaries. She filled numerous photo albums and walls with family pictures. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and served as an MIA teacher and secretary, Primary teacher and organist, Relief Society visiting teacher and a member of the Singing Mothers and the ward choir, as a ward librarian and ward bulletin.

She loved to dance, sing, crochet, play the piano, work on scrapbooks, Elvis movies and songs, numerous old country singers, and family gatherings.

After her marriage she lived in Riverside, Aberdeen, Pingree, Wapello, Firth, Goshen, and Montpelier, Idaho. After her children were in school she worked as a nurses aide at LDS Nursing Home, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the Bear Lake Memorial Nursing Home. She worked at various spud houses and motels. She also wrote for two newspapers.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn, of Montpelier, Idaho; her children, Lyn Lee (Marie) Saulls, Melba, Idaho, Ethel (Deon) Anderson, Petersboro, Utah, Melva Bunn, Anglo Saulls, and Melody (Shane) Rigby, of Montpelier, Idaho; 20 grandchildren; 46 greatgrandchildren (with two more expected in May) and two great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Anglo E. "Bud" (Lorraine) Saxton, Pingree, Idaho, Thomas H. (ReNae) Saxton, Blackfoot, Idaho; her sisters, Violet Abercrombie, Hermiston, Oregon, and Hellen Stevens, Charlo, Montana; her brother-in-law, Leon Saulls, and sister-in-law, Erma Benson, of Blackfoot, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was welcomed in heaven by her parents, her sister, Ethel Marie Saxton (McCauley), brothers-in-law, Dane Stevens, Alexander McCauley, John Abercrombie, Elmer Mesowski, sisters-in-law, Anita (Tom) Saxton and Viola Mesowski, son-in-law, H. Tracy Bunn, grandsons, Austin Saulls, Calvin Rigby, and Jason Rigby, nephews, Edwin McCauley Saxton, Anglo (Andy) Abercrombie, niece, Saadia Abercrombie, and mother- and fatherin-law, Melva and Everett Saulls.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2011, at noon in the Montpelier Second Ward Chapel with a viewing from 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Montpelier, Idaho Cemetery.
