Thomas must have been quite a religious man. In his will, after other bequeaths were taken care of, the remaining money was left to purchase Bibles and other religious material to be distributed to his grandchildren.

991828, Monday, January 14 - Washington County, Tennessee Court of Pleas & Quarter Court - The last will and testament of Thos Ball dec’d was proved in open court by the oaths of Robert Gray and Daniel Salts two subscribing witnesses hereto whereupon it was assumed by the court to be recorded and Nathan Barry and Daniel Salts the Executors herein named came into court gave bond and security and was grateful as the law directs.
