Obituary -- Herald Tribune, Jonesboro, Tennessee, February 22, 1899: On January 29, 1899, death came to Charley Salts, oldest son of Nathan [Newton] Salts. He died at the age of twenty-three years, 10 months and 21 days. He was baptized into the Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He leaves a father and mother, a grandmother, one sister and two brothers.
