1870 - He is shown as head of the house. His mother is living with him after the death of her husband. She is now 68. There is also a Mary Jane Matthews living with him. She is 28 years old. There is also a Tom J. Looney listed as well who must be a nephew. He is 23 years-old. The Mary Jane could be his sister, but the dates don’t match up that well.671

His death was reported by Ella Myers of Bentonville, Mo.599

When Isom Looney Matthews was applying to be admitted to he Confederate Home in Higginsville, Mo., William G. wrote a letter sending the application form. He stated that Isom was a Confederate. E. S. Feaster is also a witness.673
