Notes for Samuel (Spouse 1)
Samuel sold some land in 1806 in Pittsylvania County, Virginis Samuel was on the 1810 Pulaski County tax list. He was buring land in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1820.

Dimple (Gover) Mitchell, a descendant of samuel’s, wrote that Samuel was “an early settler of Talladega County, Alabama, coming to mardisville in 1823 bringing slaves with him and built a brick house....for 100 years (it stood) when it burned down. Samuel Grover was a large land owner, owning over 1000 acres at his death....”

By 1854 all of Samuel’s children had left Pulaski County, Kentucky. John B. moved to the Louisville, Kentucky area. Keziah (Gover) Barker had moved to Wayne County, Kentucky. I do not know where his daughter, Tabitha, went. His sons, Levi Milton and Banks B., apparently went to Franklin County, Tennessee. Levi Milton later moved to St. clair County, Missouri and Banks B. later moved to Talladega County, Alabama. His sons, Josiah, Samuel Jr. and Tolbert went to Talladega County, Alabama.

Levi Milton Gover had married Sarah Copenhaver in Pulaski County, Tennessee. Her father, John Copenhaver, and family moved to Jackson County, Alabama which is just across the state line of Franklin County, Tennessee. John Copenhaver had married hannah Barrier in 1800 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. The Barrier’s and Copenhaver’s left Pulaski County, Kentucky and went to Jackson County, Alabama. It is possible that the Gover’s migrated with the Barrier’s and Copenhaver’s with most of the Govers moving on the Talledaga County, Alabama in a year or so.

Samuel died intestate in 1860 in Talladega County, Alabama. His son, Tolbert, was the administrator of his estate. The probate records clearly show the names of his eight children with four of them preceding him in death. These papers also name the places where his grandchildren, whose parents preceded him in death, lived.

Mrs. Dimple (Gover) Mitchell is a descendant of Samuel’s son Levi Milton Gover and Sally Copenhaver.
