Nell attended Blue Ridge college and played the piano very well. When they moved from Memphis, TN to Abington , VA and then back to Memphis a few years later, Nell insisted that her piano be moved with them. The piano was loaded on the train and moved with the rest of the family belongings.

Obituary of Mrs. Nell Saltz, Widow of Saw Filer Dies at Age of 71 - Mrs. Nell Saltz of 645 Chelsea, a longtime Memphian, died of an apparent heart attack at 7:30 last night while eating with her grandson at Porky's Drive-In at 848 Thomas. She was 71. Born in Elizabethton, Tenn., Mrs. Saltz had lived in Memphis 50 years. She was the widow of Thomas H. Saltz, a saw filer who died in 1945. She was a Methodist. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Louise Ivy of 1187 Creston, Mrs. Mary Nell Jensen of 2051 Pendleton, Mrs. Blanche Saliba of 207 North Avalon and Mrs. Dorothy Raburn of Carrollton, Ky.; five sons, Thomas O. Saltz of Lamar, Miss., Eugene Saltz of Walnut, Miss., William B. Saltzof 1246 Homer, Andrew Saltz of 657 Clover Drive and Joe Saltz of 645 Chelsea; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
