1946, December 20th - Obituary for Thomas H. Saults [taken from a news clipping found in his father's family bible]Thomas H. Saults, retired railroad conductor, who had been a resident of Appalachia, Va. for 38 years, died unexpectedly at his in Hialiah, Fla Friday Dec. 20. Funeral services were held the following Tuesday in the Appalachia Methodist Church in charge the Rev. Roy Early of Big Stone Gap, with burial in American Legion cemetery, near Big Stone Gap. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Jennie Ashley Saults, two daughters, Mrs Nell Fisher, Hialiah, Fla., and Mrs Myrtle Johnson, Elizabethton., three sons Tom, Elizabethton, George, Florida, and Eugene, Flint, Mich,; his mother Mrs Mary Saults and a sister Mrs. A. E. Dove both of Bristol. He was a member of the Brother-hood of Railway Trainmen, and of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Saults is a former resident of Jonesboro and is kindly remembered by those who knew him.
