A dna match has recently been discovered between descendants of Alice “Allie” Salts Johnson and of Elizabeth Salts Starnes. All signs point that these two women could possibly be sisters.

On his son’s death certificate, it lists James’ birth location as Mitchell County, North Carolina. It lists his mother, Allie Salts, as being born in Washington County, Tennessee.

James V. Johnson married Allie Salts, daughter of Thomas Salts of Jonesborough and had the following children – Samuel, James V., Frank, Patrick, Carter, Charles, Rhoda and Andrew. His wife died in 1858 and he was married a year later to Mary McIntuff in that section of Washington County that became Unicoi County. They had no children.
