James V. Johnson married Allie Salts, daughter of Thomas Salts of Jonesborough and had the following children – Samuel, James V., Frank, Patrick, Carter, Charles, Rhoda and Andrew. His wife died in 1858 and he was married a year later to Mary McIntuff in that section of Washington County that became Unicoi County. They had no children.
